Hospital contamination controls specialist, Tristel has announced the win of a European patent for its chlorine dioxide generation system.
The UK-based provider of infection and contamination control products said that it has been granted a patent for its chlorine dioxide generation system by the European Patent Office.
The new patent, which follows on from another granted in the UK in March last year relates to Tristel’s Generator which is used to dispense the company’s proprietary chlorine dioxide chemistry, it said.
The firm’s generators are employed in the decontamination of endoscopes in a number of UK hospitals with Tristel products being used in some 60 per cent of NHS Acute & Private Hospitals in the UK.
Tristel also said that it is in the process of adapting the generator for use in buildings’ water supply systems, enhancing the capabilities of its subsidiary, Tristel Technologies, which focuses upon legionella control.
