The latest RiO community and mental health software will not be further implemented in London and the South until at least September. This is due to slow response times and performance issues with the Spine-connected RiO 5.1 software, issues that mean it has been five months since installations on the software began.
The software was due to be installed in May, but a statement from LPfIT read, “NHS trusts, the London programme for IT and BT are planning to recommence deployments in September 2009. Establishing the source of the problem took longer than expected and we’re working with BT to ensure the recent upgrade, RiO version 5.1, continues to deliver a stable service.”
The upgrade to the 5.1 version saw the introduction of smartcard authentication and is the first version to connect to the full NHS Spine infrastructure and has now be installed in 31 trusts.
