Doctor in court over babies death

An enquiry has begun into the allegation that Doctor Michael Munro failed to provide the necessary treatment for two terminally ill babies.

Dr Munro, a consultant neonatologist at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital, is alleged to have administered pancuronium to both babies in order to hasten their deaths.

If this is true, it flouts Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health guidelines.

Dr Munro is also accused of keeping inadequate and misleading records with regard to his treatment of the two babies, below the standard expected of a registered medical practitioner.

During the course of the investigation into one of the infants, it is said that Dr Munor provided false information in respect of his prescribing pancuronium.

His conduct is alleged to be inaccurate, misleading and dishonest.
