Agfa HealthCare’s ORBIS Hospital/Clinical Information System obtains SAP interface certification

Agfa HealthCare, a leading provider of diagnostic imaging and healthcare IT solutions, have announced that the interface between its leading Hospital and Clinical Information System (HIS/CIS) ORBIS and SAP Controlling (CO), SAP Material Management (MM) and SAP Financial (FI) has been certified.

The certification was carried out by an authorised team of experts from SAP after having conducted an in-depth audit on the individual functionalities.

The official recognition by SAP is an important step in the company’s ongoing drive to standardise its installed base and to support its customers with the interoperability of their healthcare IT systems.

The certification, based on the SAP versions SAP R/3 Enterprise 4.7 and mySAP ERP 2005 (ECC 6.0) and ORBIS Release 8.4, accredits the following interfaces:

  • ORBIS – SAP CO (Controlling): a module which provides supporting information to management for the purpose of planning, reporting, as well as monitoring the operations of their business
  • ORBIS – SAP MM (Material Management): a module designed to cover the functionality required to purchase goods and services, manage inventory, and inspect incoming materials
  • ORBIS – SAP FI (Financial): a module designed to meet all the accounting and financial needs of an organisation.

These standardised interfaces are used to transfer data from ORBIS to SAP and vice versa. This enables the user to exchange master data and dynamic data between both software systems on a defined basis. Approximately 80 customers in Europe are currently using SAP procedures in conjunction with ORBIS.

“This enhanced way of communication provides the users of both ORBIS and SAP the possibility to use the individual mature functional profiles based on standardised communication” states Volker Wetekam, Vice President of Agfa HealthCare’s IT Division.

“The certification is an important step in our drive to standardise our portfolio and strengthen our integration capabilities, meeting the ever increasing demand by hospitals and healthcare facilities to provide systems which work as an integral part of their installed base”.
