A number of firsts have been marked for the cobas® 6800/8800 Systems, the fully integrated, highly automated, next-generation molecular polymerase chain reaction (PCR) systems of Roche Molecular Diagnostics.
New data recently presented demonstrated how the cobas® 6800/8800 Systems are an advance towards meeting the evolving needs of blood testing centres, including increasing throughput and faster time to results. The increased walk-away time achieved by cobas® 6800/8800 Systems provides users with the ability to focus on other demands of the testing laboratory, such as documentation management and the development of tests for emerging blood-borne pathogens.
The cobas® 6800/8800 Systems were unveiled during the 33rd International Congress of the International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT) in Seoul. Spotlighted in a Satellite Symposia, attendees had the opportunity to take a first look at the cobas® 6800/8800 Systems with the cobas® MPX test.
The cobas® 6800/8800 Systems are anticipated to receive CE Mark approval in the second half of 2014.
